An Intro

I’ve been meaning to begin to write a blog for a while now, but as with many other goals in my life, losing weight, getting a job, it seems that other much less important things, eating, buying clothes, just keep getting in my way. As winter break is now half way through, and I have accomplished absolutely nothing, I figured why not write something and put those typing fingers to good use. So here I am beginning to formulate the direction and substance of my blog in my mind. What I hope to do here is to open minds and more importantly, open hearts. Lofty goals, I know, but “if you’re gonna be a singer, then you better be a rock star.”

It is a precarious thing to tell others how to lead their lives, and that is not what I intend to do here. Rather I can only hope to inspire anyone reading to even for a moment, consider what it really means to walk in another’s shoes. If for just one moment, we can stop to think why Alex chooses to lead his life this way instead of admonishing him for it because that way does not fit into our ideal of how life should be led, we can grow so much more meaning for our lives. Each day our time is weighed down with the overhauling demands of everyday life. Our time is measured across a flowing line and forward movement on this line is progress, the progression and growth of our minds, our bodies, but foremost our hearts. As we travel on this flowing line, our advance from point A to point B becomes hampered by the strenuous task of living our lives, we become burdened and our line is weighed down. Now we must travel down under the weight of life to try and reach a point which before was just a straight progression away. Most of us will never arrive as life continues to weigh us further and further down and progress is a long, difficult, trek back up. It is my hope here that we can take a moment to put down this weight of life, stretch our backs, stand up straight, and grow for a moment.

It is a great and difficult thing to acknowledge another’s purpose. Not to agree, but simply to understand why one chooses to do something, and it is with this understanding that we become truly great people. It is time for us all to put aside our burden of life and dwell on greater matters. People all around us make decisions and choose actions that we disagree with. It is our reaction to their beliefs which gauges our worth. Whether it is religion, politics, or our favorite movie, to respect and value another person’s intelligent view on matters, is to strengthen our own.

Take a moment out of your day to contemplate, and afterwards, inevitably, we must each pick up that weight that is life again, but surely the burden has diminished and the line that is progress is straight once more.

This is not a message from a man who spends his days in meditation thinking of all the reasons for all the actions people take around the world. Everyone has their own opinions, beliefs, and convictions, I definitely have my own as well, and this is merely one of them.

This blog is not from a man leading the perfect life and telling you how to do so too,

It is as much a reminder to me as it is to inspire you.

  1. It's almost as if every word you wrote was quoted from someone very important.

"It is a great and difficult thing to acknowledge another's purpose."

Smart people know this is much harder than it seems.
